Dunaliella salina is a highly halophile unicellular Chlorophyte alga that in some stress related situations produces high concentration of red carotenoids and in many cases is the main cause of the red or pink color of hypersaline waters (and also the source of the pigment that gives its color to flamingos)

Wow, lovely "pink" lake! I heard flamingos are pink because their food contains a lot of salt. Those photos are very interesting.
