Pond life

Post by CEN »

Here is a selection of aquatic life from the past few weeks. All pictures were taken with an Olympus BH2.
For some pictures I used two Ikea Jansjö as an additional incident light

Eurycercus (SPlanApo 10)

Plea minutissima nymph (SPlanApo 4, polarized light)

Ostracod ventral (SPlanApo 10, polarized light)

Chaoborus larva (SPlanApo 4, polarized light, Ikea Jansjö)

Mosquito larva head ventral (SPlanApo 10, Ikea Jansjö)

These (and your other recent post) are great!
I find the 6th one here, daphnia, really intriguing. Very dramatic and like an alien creature from a sci-fi movie!

Very nice... but I sure wish people would put a little basic photographic information along with their pictures. We could learn a lot.

Thanks so much for the extra information!! The pictures are lovely and I am sure I am not the only one who will appreciate the technical information.

Beautiful photomicrographs

Nice work - it is amazing how images from a simple pond can be so inspiring.
A pond has a richer source of organisms than any place I have visited including the rainforest.

Nice work
