EPSON printer chip

[Olympusman]

This chip was on a printed circuit board on the inside of the all-in-one printer scanner bar. It was not in a package but fully open with the leads from the chip soldered directly to the circuit board. My assumption is that by omitting the package, the chip would be thin enough to fit into the engineered space.
The chip is about 3mm wide.
