Dancing with the Trachelomonas

Post by Charles Krebs »

I had slide recently where a group of Trachelomonas appeared to be actively "feeding", moving about rapidly while this solitary Euglena also fed among them. The body of the euglena would squirm and contort into all sorts of odd configurations... sort of comical. If it were a video you could put music to it and it would look like a dance.

Raul,
I did play around with it a little last year. Posted a few early attempts here:
http://krebsmicro.com/videos/index.html

The camera I was using was good quality but I really would have preferred a larger sensor than the 1/4" one it used.

I found it very time consuming, and was frustrated trying to compress the files down to a size that were reasonable for the internet but still had the quality I wanted.

But I would love to do some more with a better camera setup.

Hi,
I took a look at your videos, they are great!!!
I agree, video quality is no match compared with photography.
But time is fun! And story telling is easier with a timeline.
Great work Charlie ! :D
