Moth (edit: brown lacewing) 2x

Post by kit1980 »

I'm trying a 2x objective I've just bought.
This is some kind of moth (unfortunately, a part of one rear leg has broken), transmitted + reflected light, single frame.

Looks like a good start.

The subject is a "brown lacewing", https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemerobiidae .

It looks a lot like a moth, but the groups are not closely related -- actually farther apart than moths and true flies, based on genetic analysis (per evolutionary chart HERE for Neuroptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera).

Thanks! I've already been advised about the ID in a private message.
I have almost no insect knowledge for now, but plan to learn more. Thanks for the link.

Looks good. Even a 2X has such shallow DOF.

You should consider trying a stack of a few images.
