Lovely image. I'm intrigued by the rim-lighting around the eyes. Did that "just happen" or did you set it up for that? Either way, it really works well, how's it done? Thanks.

Quite deliberate. The subject is on a 2x3" slide made from matte black plexiglass with a hole in the center. The damselfly head is centered over the hole. Underneath the stage is a home-brew darkifield "condenser". This provides the rim light on the eyes and also illuminates the "hair" on the face extending over the black background.
