Hmm, so *that's* what they actually look like... my envy knows no bounds.

As others have said, both are great but that second one is killer.
I hate you!

I meant to ask you if you oiled the condenser to the back of the slide to get maximum NA? I have been experimenting with the X63, 1.4 Planapo using the X40 DIC slider with really quite good results which I will post in my long thread on miss match Zeiss DIC. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 908#193908 I have not been oiling the condenser as cleaning up afterwards is such a hassle.

Yes always. I think it does help. In for a penny in for a pound as they say.
I use isopropanol and cotton swabs. Since both the turrent and the condenser come off easily, I don't see it as a major chore.

I have a Zeiss 3.2/0.07 that came with a Standard RA, didn't like it much and never used it - turns out it is very handy to check if the condenser and the objective lens are nice and clean. In fact it is perfect for that.

I have now posted my images with this lens and the 'wrong' X40 objective slider here http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 327#196327 and I don't think they are too shabby. :D Thanks for the tip about oiling the conderser top lens to the back of the slide. I will try and see if it makes a further improvement.
