It seems to be an opaque subject. I guess you have taken this photo with epi illumination, haven't you ? I would like to know what was the original colour of this subject, because it seems to be converted to B&W during processing.
The riddle is to difficult for me, at least now

By the way, very good quality of the image.

It was very tricky in my opinion...

The image shows balls from destroyed bearing covered with dirty grease...

Marek - absolutely no processing like converting to B&W, but yes I used epi illumination
