I found of a bunch of these flagellates today, and almost all of them had these bubble-like extensions/attachments. I have searched and I can't find flagellates with bubbles. The main bodies are about 8um long. A few did not have the bubbles and cruised at high speeds, while the ones with "bubbles" wobbled at high speeds. Are they dividing or being attacked? 40x plan phase.
Thanks for the ID Bernd. The only pics I can find are large chytrids on frogs and such--nothing at this scale, but I guess the fungus has to start somewhere.
Thanks for looking Carlos--I've never seen anything like this before.
