Polarizers

Post by Olympusman »

I am using camera polarizers - both circular. I can flip the polarizer at the microscope base illuminator and observe it the camera to ensure that the direction that light passes through the polarizers agree by observing on the cameras LCD screen.
It is correct that circular polarizers have a quarter wave filter built in. This is to prevent polarization from negatively affect functions such as autofocus and metering in modern cameras.
The plastic wrap from the CD case appears to be an interesting effect, even though it is a happy accident.
