an epiphytic alga. Characium?

This is an epiphytic alga (= crowing on an other alga). Could it be a species from Characium? I am asking because up to now I have never seen this alga before.
Freshwater - maybe a little bit brackish.

Sorry I can't help much with the ID, but the image is quite striking. Beautiful luminescent color and good sharpness. Very nice!
