Difflugia
Although this may look like an agglutinated chunk of debris, these are shells of Difflugia amoebae. As determining the species in this genus is harder than understanding relativity theory, I will not even try. I am always amazed how massive and tank-like these shells appear in the electron microscope.

As always, these images are a team effort of Steffen and myself.
Best regards,

Difflugia tests
Amazing. What is remarkable about testate amoebae is that for a creature that does not have a brain, their DNA is capable of gluing together these structures and that the design is specific to the species.
