Epsom Salt

Post by TravisH »

Since I am new to doing photography my microscopy I thought i would start off with something simple that I had around the house, and try a bit of focus-stacking as well (since the DOF is so shallow).

I decided to have a play with a single piece of Epsom Salt and was happy overall with how it came out (for a first try). Still lots to learn but I will keep playing and see what interesting other things I can find around the house :)

I liked the detail on the salt more than anything else :).

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for the reply, the Microscope was an Upright optical microscope (Radical - Indian), which has a 4X Semi-Plan (DF) objective which then ran into a trinocular head and through Amscope 30mm to DSLR adapter (2X Magnification).

The Camera is a crop factor (Nikon D5300) so it will do some magnification itself as well but it work out to about 8 - 10X I believe in magnification.

The camera was on manual, ISO 100, I think it was about 1-second exposure as well.

The NA for the objective is (apparently) 0.10
