A new Arcella amoeba, frontal and profile

Post by carlos.uruguay »

Again we see a small amoeba Arcella.
Arcella lives in a house with a circular door.
Extends its "arms" to move and search food.
It measured as only a 60um (0.06mm) in diameter.
It is probably Arcella hemisphaerica, A. intermedia,
A.gibbosa or A. rotundata,
very difficult to distinguish without more experience
We found it in the heavily polluted freshwater of the Rio de la Plata - Route 1 Km 151,500 Artilleros - Colonia - Uruguay - South America.
