What is the spherical formation at the end of the flagellum?

Post by carlos.uruguay »

In both videos, from different samples, this amoebas have a long flagellum, but tuned in the end, sometimes resulting in a spherical formation which then falls off.
Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

I think it is Mastigamoeba, but I do not know what is the sphere at the end of the flagellum

It's an artefact, the structure blows up. Indicates stress. Or so is my general understanding,

Quite a choice of music accompany your beasts ;-) Contrasty!
