There isn't really a question of identification here; the answer to Mytilina or Salpina is that both actually mean the same thing. Salpina is one of several names Ehrenberg introduced for rotifers that it turned out had already been named by Bory, whose names now take priority. Some other examples are the obsolete names Pterodina for Testudinella, Dinocharis for Trichotria, and Triarthra for Filinia.
