Post by fpelectronica »

A ciliated I think, without security, it could be Bryometopus.
I appreciate help in correctly identifying

Hi, Francisco. It's Frontonia acuminata (a lemon-shaped Frontonia, similar to F. atra but usually smaller, with a pointed posterior and dark pigmentation confined mostly to a spot in the anterior). F. angusta is similar in size, but typically lacks the dark spot.

The mouth is visible at several points. You can see the paroral membrane flapping at 0:03, and the shape of the mouth is clearly visible at 0:56, right after the defecation (which seems to occur via the postoral suture...very interesting!) :)

I took a couple of stills from your video, to point out certain features.

Some identifying characters:

Frontonia are equipped with excretory pores, but this fellow seems to be defecating through the postoral suture.

Excellent as usual !
F. acuminata seems to be common at this period of the year . I see it often and other people as well.
