Beautiful!

Any chance of showing us some high mag 3D of the structures that link together the left and right halves?? :D

(See the thread HERE for some of my own less than stellar attempts, and interesting references posted by other people.)

Thanks, Rik! Wow, it's amazing what you can do with MPE-65 and image stacking! I definitely have to start tinkering with step motors and macro rails and whatever it is that makes images like yours possible.

I have to dig out the original stacks, I think imaged the proboscis with a 20x NA 0.8 too. Hope I saved the data...

I wish! But most of my images in that thread were shot with a Nikon M Plan 40X NA 0.50 ELWD, stacked at 1 micron.

The setup is kind of like a bargain-basement version of that CLSM you use -- just missing the C, the L, the S, and, uh, most of the M... ;)

I would love to see details on the proboscis at 20X NA 0.8 !

I took some images of this subject with DIC a while back http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 9562#89562
but they are pretty tame in comparison with that lovely image of yours. Its a topic I keep meaning to go back to.
