Trying to restore the eyes I kept the mosquito in a moisture environment. The alternative would have been to find a new one outside but we have had sub-zero degrees (celsius) some nights so there is not so many to be found. Luckily the eyes recovered enough for me to take another look. The radial bars are not moving when I turn the subject so they are obviously, as you suggest, part of the lighting system of the microscope.
When it comes to the green bars in the second picture above: they move with the subject when I turn it so they are not part of the lighting system. They might be (near) surface reflections of the main reflection.
In the picture below, a dark field picture taken with the BD plan 20x elwd, there is (in each lens) a circular main reflection with three radial black bars. The eight lights that surrounds each lens looks like reflections of the main reflection.
