Copepod-naupilus ? Not sure

Post by 75RR »

25x, about 225µm, GUF, 4 stacks (11, 11, 15, 13) stitched in photoshop

More appendages on this one and less transparent. At a more advanced stage?
Could not capture the fine extremities, may not have illuminated it correctly or did not start to photograph at the right depth, not sure.

The more I look at it the more I wonder if some sort of mite ended up on the slide. I reuse them and leave them out (propped-up) to dry after washing.
ID please.

Not sure at all, but it seems a mite.
Good picture.

Thanks Pau,
I fear you are right, contaminated slide.

Took these about 3 weeks ago, they are quite different but then larval stages do vary a lot.

16x about 250µm Offset Dark Stop & DF 10 image stack photoshop
Copepod at nauplius stage (Possibly cyclops)
Difficult to clean up the background on these, left the Offset Dark Stop pretty much as is.

I agree it might be a mite. Eight legs, like most arachnidae.
