It is from a fish pond in a local park. I know what you want to know and no there is no sphagnum moss present, so when I find these M. truncata they are pretty rare -- maybe ten or so in a water drop. My local site that has a rich community of sphagnum moss along the bank is currently surrounded by a crop of corn (maize) and I can't get to it for a few more weeks after the harvest. That particular site is abundant in desmids.
