Micrasterias mahabuleswarensis

I found this specimen in my sample from lake Gamboa.
I like the shape of the chloroplast.

All of them are fabulous, especially the darkfield where you controlled the halos really well. Did you use an oil condenser? I find that I get much better results with my oil darkfield condenser and the 20x/0.75 than with the standard dry darkfield condenser.

Rogelio,
this is again a marvellous set of photos!! Thank you also for including the "simple" brightfield for comparison by the poor microscopist without DIC.

I really like how hard you've pushed the DIC on the first one. I don't see very many folks using optical staining, and you've used it to excellent effect. The Magenta of the background compliments the green of the chloroplasts nicely, and the contrast at the edges of the cuticle is fantastic.

Beautiful subject and pictures.

Like them all, darkfield is my favorite.

No, I used a standard dry (0.95 - 0.80) dark field condenser. I do not have the oil condenser. Lately I am doing some images without covering the specimens (I have an inverted so that is not a problem) to avoid crushing them, for example the Actinosphaerium.
