E. acus -- properly known as
Lepocinclis acus -- has a distinctly tapered anterior (like a tiny garfish!

). Your creature is probably
Lepocinclis oxyuris.
E. spirogyra, which now goes by the name of
Lepocinclis spirogyroides, used to have a bunch of sub-varieties distinguished from one another by patterns of "periplast ornamentation" (the arrangement of the distinctive "warts" on the pellicle). In 2005, Kosmala et al. found these patterns to be "capricious," so the old varieties (including var. abrupte-acuminata Lemmermann 1913) are probably meaningless.
