That looks like some serious magnification. What is the actual size?

Is that taken with an Olympus pen? Have just bought a second hand E-P2 - sans lens - which I am planning to use with my 50mm 1.8 lens (leftover from my OM1 and OM2 days) as soon as the adapter I ordered (from china) arrives. Any tips?

As the senior product support specialist I used to provide technical support for Olympus consumer products (digital cameras, digital voice recorders, etc. ) so in terms of your EP-2, you have my sympathy. I won an EP-1 in an international photomicrography competition a few years ago and have yet to find it useful. Right now, it sits on my phase contrast scope, which I rarely use.
Yes, I agree the magnification is severe. I recently purchased a 60x objective and I'll see if the image quality is better.
At one time, Olympus made very good digital cameras. Right now my walking around cameras are a couple of used C-7000s.
The main problem with Micro Four Thirds cameras such as your E-P2 is that they are not supported by Olympus Studio since the cameras do not have a USB compuer contorl mode, which is an oversight my associates and I had complained about for years.

That is something that may turn out to be a drawback in the future. Right now a manually focusable camera with a very good lens will be a big step up for me.

Is that a dry 60x you picked up? That sounds very nice.

Yes, it's a dry 60X. Hopefully today I'll find the time to do some tests.
As for manual focus. you can get a Micro Four Thirds to OM adapter and use OM lenses. I use a 50mm f1.4 on my EP-1 as a relay lens on my phase contrast scope. Many people use manual lenses on PENs to shoot video because of the autofocus and exposure problems the cameras have when shooting video.
