Phacus helikoides at infinity of a water drop

Post by carlos.uruguay »

We found Phacus helikoides (Phacus tortus)
in a drop of freshwater from a breakwater;
in Km.46, Route 8,
Canelones - Uruguay - South America.
His body spiral shaped uses its flagellum
to move in the infinity of the water drop.
Its red eye looks for the light.
A small bubble of paramylon is its heart.
It measures only 0.07 millimeters long.
Phase contrast and oblique light, 40X objective.
