Ferrofluid gives interesting interference patterns. Unlike oil on water or soap films these are stable once formed

It's interesting how water vapor condensed on a glass slide can create interference patterns. Not as attractive as oil/water, soap or ferrofuid films.

Looks disturbingly organic!

I'd really like to know what it is that evaporated water leaves behind, too :-k

They are organic looking, like virus particles.

As for the water vapor thin film, it is very transient as it evaporates off the slide leaving no trace. Any particles are dust. I did this at -6C, breathed on a very clean slide and watched it evaporate. The colours appear at the very last moment as the droplet layer thins and disappears.

These are amazing are all of your ferrofluid shots done on slides/microscope? Or are you using a specific lens? Thanks. :)
