Thanks to sebba28's invention, colorful polarized micorscopy is now possible (: thank you (:

That what a plastic transparent CD cover can do:

I'm looking for the the extemely rare V-IM magnification changer for the E800 scope. If you have seen a listing or have one for sale please let me know.

Very nice example.

But I must slightly correct the "invention". The CD plastic cover properties are quite well known. I personally use it from time to time as the compensators and Charls Krebs mentioned about it several times :)

Sello tape glued on a microscope slide also makes good compensators, you can make different ones with one to five layers (more controllable than CD covers)

I'm referring to generic office transparent adhesive tape, like Scotch Tape (in US) or any other genericised trademark (Cello or Fixo in Spain...). Don't use the translucent type but the normal transparent a bit yellowish. Inexpensive and easy to find :D.
I use it to make compensators when teaching microscopy at my school lab. If you mantain constant and moderate the traction force while gluing it, you can obtain uniform background. If you stress it the results can end more crazy.
