Yesterday I did a pond dip in an open spring-fed cistern in a local park. It was a very starnge sample. For one thing, other than the large water plants, the only other plant life was a single species of brown algae, which I will present in another post. The other was there were virtually no protists. However, ther was wahat appeared to be an aquatic louse and some mites and microcrustaceans. This is one I had never seen before:
ID anyone? Thanks.

Amphipod
Amphipod -- Thanks. Since there are only about 7000 species, I'll let it go at that.
Here is a better shot made up of 47 shots in Zerene.

Thanks, Charlie
Thanks. Since Olympus left me I have a lot of time to work on my techniques. I've made two sets of darkfield stops and Jacek encouraged me to make a couple of UGF filters. I also made a set of Rheinberg filters a couple of years ago I'm finally getting around to.
When I was at Olympus we had a displays in the hallway of 40 by 40 inch posters of Bioscapes winners and your Water Boatman leg details were part of them as well as Wim von Egmonds Volvox images.
Dudes and Dudettes, we haven't heard from Wim for quite a spell.
