Transmitted Light Tardigrade

Post by protist_shepard »

Found this little guy blocking out the bright field, so I moved my flash to transmit to the top of the stage, didn't know they could be red.

Interesting pictures! (It is very difficult to make photographs from the Tardigrades)
By the way: If somebody is interested in Tardigrades, there is a monthly online-journal about them, mad with love and knowglede. It's in German, but everibody will understand the interesting pictures:

Thanks for sharing this - never seen one in colour before.

I can never get over how indestructible they are... But you can squish them dead. Such a contradiction. Shows you that fragility and hardiness are not opposites.

...or maybe Tardigrada Ramazzottius, which is also very common.
You can be fairly sure by determing the shape of the claw in photo #3.
Not very clear but it led me to assume it's Ramazzottius.

Very nice photo's and well lit ! 2nd is my favourite.

Thanks guys, here's a compilation of the other shots I took during this shoot. Surprised I got the "face" somewhat in focus.
