Soap Skin - unusual

Post by Ernst Hippe »

Hello colour friends,
this epi-illumination picture is taken from the thin skin of a colourless clear hair shampoo:

Image

It existed only a few seconds. I was amazed and like to share it with you.

Remarkable how the dark area resembles the structure of a single celled organism. Nucleus, nucleoli, membranes, vacuoles, organelles all there. Even the ruffled outer 'membrane' reminds me of motile eukaryotic cells in culture.

Hi,
thanks a lot for all your nice comments, even more for the various associations! These are especially interesting for me, as also with e.g. crystals: imagination challenge...
Francisco: no polarization, no DIC. Here comes some illustration:

Ernst,

Just great!

Beauty in such a "simple" common subject.
(Also reminds me of some of Ecki's beautifully stained plant sections).

harisA,
my 4x Achromat with its 17mm working distance allows sufficient space for the 18mm diagonal!
