here is something nice: the red alga Batrachospermum. Looks a bit like the twig of a christmas tree, doesn't it?

Very interesting structure on that algae Bernhard. I have never seen anything like this before. Unusual indeed :wink:

I consider most algaes to be some of the most interesting and beautiful plants to be found anywhere, although there are some which do indeed create unsightly messes at times. Their intricate structures and brillant greens are oftentimes quite soothing to the eye and they are a pleasure to observe through the microscope. You brought out some very nice details in these images here Bernhard, nice work. :D

Very interesting structure... yes, the first image does resemble a branch of a Christmas (fir) tree.

Looks like it could be a pain to photograph, but your set of pictures give a good impression of the subject.
