here is something nice: the red alga Batrachospermum. Looks a bit like the twig of a christmas tree, doesn't it?

I consider most algaes to be some of the most interesting and beautiful plants to be found anywhere, although there are some which do indeed create unsightly messes at times. Their intricate structures and brillant greens are oftentimes quite soothing to the eye and they are a pleasure to observe through the microscope. You brought out some very nice details in these images here Bernhard, nice work.
