Probably Plagiopyla a big mouth ciliate

Post by carlos.uruguay »

We have found Plagiopyla in a creek, freshwater stream of the department of San Jose, Montevideo, Uruguay, South America.
It has a oval body covered of uniform cilia, a wide oral cleft and a large macronucleus visible in the video,.
swimming in the water drop looking for bacteria and small ciliates.
Oblique light.
Fl. objective 20X and 40X, Cenon D600

Carlos,

Very good video, on the first parts looks like you used DIC!

Thank you friends!
Rogelio, sometimes with a simple cardboard on the illuminator with 10X and 20X objectives is achieved a beautiful effect of three dimensions

Thank you Arturo.
For now should I settle for light oblique, a real DIC is inaccessible to me
