I recently found a colony of the cyanobacteria Nostoc. The body of the colony was about 3 mm in length, with strands of Nostoc radiating outward, looking a great deal like mold.
The strands in the body of the colony were curled up and showed no movement.

The strands radiating outward from the body showed the characteristic movements of cyanobacteria.
