a rather big copepode

Post by Franz Neidl »

In the nocturnal sea plankton I find sometimes well nourished copepodes, like yesterday. This living animal was about 1600 µm long! I dont know if this a calanoid or a cyclopid copepode. Can you help me?

Hi Franz,
according to the long antennae, it looks to me like a calanoid copepode, similar to Diaptomus. However I am not familiar with the maritime fauna...
Greetings Ernst.
