Hi,
This is very interesting and well shown. Is that time lapse or just normal frame rate?
Regards!

Very very nice!

How did you manage to get the light spot in a darkfield?

I used oil dark field condenser from PZO. I placed the condenser at the correct height. Then I closed the field iris. As a result I got a well-lit spot. The height of the condenser is most important.

Wow,
nicely captured video !
I never have seen any algae with such a fast response to light !
Can you please tell us more about the algal cells, you have seen and
captured for this video.
I do not agree in your identification as Planktospaeria.
I know Planktospaeria from soil habitats, they have some mucilage sheath,
only the small zoospores are motile.
Do you have any other pictures or videos of the algal cells.
What was the habitat, where you found them, freshwater or marine ?
Thank you for further informations,
regards,
Gerd

Thanks for your interest. In these films, I also noticed the algae. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VIM6cO07OM

These are definitely the same algae. They have a slightly different shape when they don't move. I found them in freshwater. It was a small river. They were in my samples as long as the temperature does not fall below about 20 degrees Celsius.
