I think curt did this before, but I got very different results. These are from a broken National Geographic weather station's LCD panel.

I noticed when heating the liquid crystal it loses its birefringent properties temporarily. As it cools down it regains them.

This was interesting - only certain spots fluoresce. Wonder what they are?
