Freshwater dinoflagellates

Post by Bernd »

In response to Rene´s question in Charles Krebs´s thread "A few "unknowns". Suggestions?" below http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=19649 here are in a separate thread some pictures of a freshwater dinoflagellate sampled last spring, showing the vegetative dinoflagellate (a), specimen in different stages of cell division (b), cysts (c) and cell division inside of a cyst (d). I presume the genus is Gymnodinium, but I do not know which species.

Bernd,

Thanks for posting these. Excellent job on the surface grooves and flagella in the first two... I've rarely ever seen them as clearly.

Still not sure what I had found. I added a few more images to that post that might offer a little more information.
