Metuloid Cystidia and another DIC success

Post by lkudzma »

These are specialized cells on the surface of an Inocybe mushroom gill. They are called metuloid pleurocystidia. The sparkly stuff at the end is calcium oxalate crystals.

This is the first version Zeiss DIC using Prism III, Slider II on a Zeiss Universal stand. The objective is the Zeiss Plan Neofluar 40x/0.95 multi-immersion (oil in this case). This objective also works fabulously with this version of Zeiss DIC, giving perfectly even field and strong DIC.
