Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) II, higher mags

Post by Charles Krebs »

In my previous aspirin posting, the slide was made by letting the solution dry on its surface with no cover slip. With my BH2 this limits me to using the 4X or 10X since my 20X (and higher) are poor without a cover slip. I tried a couple of times but could not get good crystals to form under a coverslip with this solution. So I took a large coverslip and applied the solution diectly to the cover. After it crystalized (very quickly!) I simply flipped the cover slip over onto a slide. This then allowed using the 20X and 40X to get a different "look". (The "crystallization" always seem to look quite different as well, since I pay no attention to the concentration when dissolved). .
