Charaxes candiope, wing scales II

A few more from this butterfly. In the upper left of the first image, and in the second image, the scales on the side photographed become a little scattered and spread out. You can see they are attached to a greenish-yellow wing membrane that is transparent. Through this membrane you can see smaller, different shaped scales that are attached to the other side of the wing. Those scales were much more translucent and reflective and changed appearance significantly just by catching the light at different angles. I may need to try another shot with a touch of backlighting to show just how interesting these sections can appear.
