Internal young - sour paste nematode (Panagrellus redivivus)

Post by Visikol »

These nematodes are usually used as food for baby betta fish. They are ovoviviparous and as such reproduce sexually and hatch young internally and bear living young.

These images were taken on a Nikon eclipse 80i microscope, the imaging software NIS D 3.00 SP7. Specimens were cleared with Visikol.

How romantic... The "hooks" are reproductive organs.

The young can be seen internally in different phases of development

A face only a mother could love.

Enjoy!

Excellent resolution of the head and mouth in that last image.
