Excellent detail. Could you explain (or reminder) your hybrid DIC?

Thanks Pau
For DIC I use PZO DIC head and Zeiss INKO prism epiplan 16/0.35 from the objective .It only works with the objective 20x.This is only temporary, because I'm waiting for the proper condenser PZO KPI2.
This is my setup:

Fantastic video. It's wonderful to see what can be done with mixed parts...inspiring, even!

The ciliate is a Urostyloid...a very difficult group. To identify it to genus level would require (at mininum) a detailed view of ventral and frontal ciliation, and accurate dimensions. And even when these are present, identification can be fiendishly difficult!.

Interesting setup! Thanks for posting it.
So you just do place the epiplan DIC prism under the condenser?

I see you've renamed the thread "Urostyla." Just a clarification: on the basis of this video, I don't think you can assign the ciliate to the genus Urostyla. The most I would be willing to say is that it is a Urostyloid . Choosing a genus within that group (Holosticha, Bakuella,Keronopsis, Urostyla, and so on) would require a clearer view of the ventral ciliation, and accurate dimensions.

Great video and excellent DIC. You found a good combination. Good luck finding the PZO condenser. They turn up on ebay and allegro from time to time. If I see one I'll let you know.
