GFP Fluorescence in Green Star Polyps

Post by pwnell »

So I just received my Semrock GFP filter cube and tried my hand at fluorescence photomacrography for the first time. Feedback is appreciated.

First the polyp under normal transmitted illumination (10x)

Now for my hand at fluorescence.

Nice images. I also want to play with fluorescence photomacrography. How easy is to find gfp (dye) and at what price? How you apply it at your specimen?
Regards

I did not. The GFP is natural in the tissue of this auto fluorescence coral.

I have some GFP and other fluorescent protein filter sets as well as filter sets for some other fluorochromes. These are generally sized for Zeiss P&C reflector cubes, but probably could fit some other makes too.

I also have various light sources for fluorescence available, including HBO housings and power supplies and also some of the more recent Osram HXP based units from Exfo (EXFO X-Cite).

If anyone is interested send me a private message. Prices would what only could be described as "small fractional"

You can probably buy some animals (live) which have been gene spliced to make GFP and other FPs online.
