Epi Illumination Comparison

Post by curt0909 »

A comparison of epi illumination methods on an insect. I did not include the classic diffused DF, only settings from the microscope (Reichert Epistar with DIC option). I didn't put too much time into this, stacks are incomplete, no post processing. I know I've attached more than the allowed number of photos but I was hoping you could let it slide this time.

Iteresting comparison, thanks for posting it.
Unfortunately reflected DIC seems of little utility with biological specimes as we previoully discussed

I agree, there are a few biological specimens that respond well to DIC. In these cases DIC can help determine topography. Other than these few cases I prefer diffused darkfield.
