Water flea molting and difficult to photograph object.

Post by specious_reasons »

While trying to photograph something completely different, I spotted a water flea in the act of molting. Unfortunately, by the time I got set up to take its picture, it had mostly shed the exoskeleton.

This was the thing I was trying to figure out how to photograph. I'm assuming it's a plant seed of some kind. It's a deep black that refused any kind of illumination.

I have never caught a bug molting. Nice.

For the seed, I would use reflected light. Or both.

It was totally a lucky catch, unfortunately I wasn't prepared for it. I wanted to capture as much of the process that I could, but only got that. :(

Thanks for the advice, if I can locate it or something like it again, I'll see what reflected light will do.
