Back in 2006 some images were posted of this rotifer by Charlie and Bernhard - see http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... 19af318ab2

Here are a couple of specimens I found at Monkmead Woods, West Chiltington, Sussex, UK last Sunday

Both images:

Microscope: Leitz Diavert
Ocular: Zeiss KPL-W 10/18
Objective: Leica 20/0.3 E FL
Sample from Monkmead Woods scrape May 2012

The first image is a stack of 2 images of a live specimen, the second of 3 images in Zerene

Though we lean upon the same balustrade, the colours of the mountain are different.

I have only seen images of this rotifer. How did he move around? Or was he stationary?

They swim using the cilia you can see at the front end of the live specimen in the first image. This one was just hovering around, hence I was able to get a couple of shots that stacked OK.
