Oh nooo, not another coccoid green!
Beautiful images!
I actually think these are very young colonies of Crucigenia. As they mature, an opening should develop in the center of the colony - that is if this is Crucigenia. I am using the 1st edition (next edition due 2014) of Freshwater Algae of North America - Ecology and Classification, editors: Wehr and Sheath. I looked through all the green coccoids and came to think this is Crucigenia, by elimination. I have authored the Tribophyte chapter in this text and looked through about 65 yellow-green coccoids listed in the chapter that are often mistaken for a sick green coccoids. I don't think these colonies are yellow-greens. Green coccoids will stain dark using Lugols. The Tribophyte coocoids produce oils. However, your images appear to have very small oil droplets(?).
Sorry for the mini-lecture,
Donald
