They are amazing! (So is the pellicle the 'outer skin' of the beast?)

Wow.

These are exceptional. I've seen plenty of Paramecium in regular transmitted light, but never have I seen one with this level of detail. Right down to what it had for lunch.

Is this DIC?

Wow, #2 is like a map of his town and in #4 he is wearing a chain mail suit. :)

Can you see the workings of all his internal parts in real time?

Yes, it is a protective membrane.

I was lucky to be taking pictures of that Paramecium at the moment it changed to that state, the subject on picture 3 is the same that #4, #3 was taken before #4.

Yes, I can see the contractile vacuoles, radiating channels, etc
