it is not DIC, it's my universal filter - it mixes obligue light with rheinberg illumination and thanks to that gives very dic-like effect
images taken with the universal filter are also here: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=16690 or here: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/v ... hp?t=16445

The mouth is very interesting to me.
From your direct observations, are those small teeth limited to the ends of the filaments, sort of like bristles on a toothbrush? Or do the teeth go farther down the filament, and we're only lucky enough to see a few at the ends?
I am not sure how deep of a stack you would want here. This could become confusing very quickly. Perhaps a stereo rendering...

yes, they looked like some kind of toothbrush, I will try to take a better image of them but it is quite hard in my case.
there should be a very deep stack, at least 100 images, that's impossible for me right now. I'm able to do only 'handmade' PS stacks consisting of no more than 5-6 images...

thank you (:
here is another image of that strange filaments, I will try to make a better one, maybe I will try to cut some of those. There should be used at least 40x objective, but the specimen is way to thick to get a good quality image.
EDIT:
I menaged to detach the mouth from the head (- sorry about that, buddy; it's for a good cause... - @#$#@%*#@* - I know, I know...), flattened it and did 4 image stack of the filaments, that's all I can do right now. the 40x objective gives bad images /:

Quote – Holmes on ‘Entomology’
” I suppose you are an entomologist ? “
” Not quite so ambitious as that, sir. I should like to put my eyes on the individual entitled to that name.
No man can be truly called an entomologist,
sir; the subject is too vast for any single human intelligence to grasp.”

thanks (: I still think they could be much better. the universal filter allows to choose light direction (: it also reduces image distortions typical for traditional obligue light.
