I have not seen anything quite like this. Was it moving inside?

Thanks for your comments,

I did not see any movement inside. I had the impression that the "tentacles" or "pseudopods" were retractable just from their length in individual ones but I did not actually see this occurring.

It's definitely not an amoeba, but more likely an egg or cyst.

filamentous bacteria

The fibrous structures extending from the egg-like structures could be fungal in origin but more likely may be filamentous bacteria.
A lot of hedging in this,
